10 Year Old Suffers Skin Damage From Manicure

Urgent Warning: Acrylic Nails Pose Health Risks to Young Girls

10-Year-Old Suffers Skin Damage from Manicure

Parents are being urged to exercise caution after a 10-year-old girl suffered skin damage as a result of acrylic nails. The child's mother shared her experience as a warning to other families.

Additional Concerns

Dermatologists recommend that adults trim children's nails until they are at least 9 or 10 years old. However, some parents have been bringing children as young as 11 to 15 years into salons for full sets of acrylic nails.

While acrylic nails may create the appearance of strong and healthy nails, they can actually damage the skin, nails, and cuticles. In addition to the risks of skin irritation and infection, the chemicals used in the process can thin and weaken the natural nails.
